Meyrene Cowell worked in the field of education for almost 30 years. She specialised in teaching children who experienced barriers to learning and eventually rose to the position of deputy-head at a school for extraordinary, or specialised education. Meyrene also spent almost twenty-years exploring the Tarot, which led her to investigate and understand the import of archetypes. Using the Tarot and other cards, she has conducted a number of workshops aimed at assisting the participants to discover unconscious and negative beliefs and to become more conscious of the sacredness of our human journey.
Since Meyrene’s husband retired – after a career spanning more than 40 years in aviation, they began to visit campsites throughout the southern states of Africa. Malcolm and Meyrene enjoy sighting the wildlife, the vast landscapes, sunsets, night skies and the many gifts that this beautiful African continent has to offer. These ventures into isolated places are where Meyrene began to develop her passion for exploring the symbols that the ancient First People of Africa painted on the walls of caves and overhangs. She became enthralled by the pictographs that are common to many ancient groups who believed in the greatness of Spirit and who honoured Earth, all her people and the creatures too.
This fascination with the meanings of symbols enriched Meyrene’s journey into self-awareness, self-knowledge and consciousness.
